Abstract


From the perspective of spatial cognition, the thesis attempted to research the Beijing Desheng Up-town and districts where the object is when the rejuvenation of old block before and after the change of space configuration by using Space Syntax. Meanwhile, the thesis collected and analyzed the relationship between the old block and the architectural cluster on the current rejuvenation of the old block among the space configuration.The pattern of cluster in the rejuvenation of old block is established from the perspective of urban design and under the guidance of the pattern language theory. The cluster can be seen as a design method, a pattern language and as a cognitive model - the part of the organization associated together with the life in which the role of the people closely. Space Syntax is different from the method in general in cognitive science. It is based on the topology to establishment the cognitive model through the computer technology to quantify space configuration. It studies the space in great depth and combines the relationship between architectural space and spatial cognition.The study was divided into three stages. We selected the Axial line to realize the block space and compared the Connectivity value, Control value, Depth value, Integration and Intelligibility in different degrees by using Depthmap software. The conclusion is that the pattern of architectural cluster in the old block should follow the topology configuration where it is. The pattern of architectural cluster was introduced and leading to the value of Intelligibility increased which is an inevitable trend to the rejuvenation. Meanwhile, the Intelligibility can be determined to maintain and continue the space configurations and ensure the level of space cognition for people to the rejuvenation before and after.
