Kohei Sugiura is a world-renowned graphic designer, founder of the modern books and magazines in Asia, the giant in design field, the forerunner of Art and Design.He poured the soul and means of modern edition design into book design, put the design ways of Western Europe into Eastern philosophy and aesthetics of thinking, given the new spirit of the oriental culture and philosophy, to lead the formation of the unique graphic information called Sugiura Language. His works and design philosophy have a strong influence and impact in China, Asia and the world. Within more than 10 years, brought the development of a number of valuable inspiration and role in both design practice and design guidance with China in communication process.This article is writing from Kouhei Sugiura’s life background, the main introduction of the employment history. Through analysis and research on his enormous impact of design on the East-West cultural background, trying to reveal the aesthetic concept of the Japanese nation and the aesthetic ideas of how to perfect a book on modern design,and look forward Japan to summing up the successful experience of modern design. Through analysis and dissertate on his images of the universe theory, the Chinese characters TianYuanDeFang design theorty,the editing design theory, and other major design concept into its works of the main features of the design, designed for Chinese books in the future development of important inspiration. In this article, to be able to look forward the book designers in China to having a right and careful look at the resolution of the Japanese modern design books, so that China can stand on a new point of view to re-examine the traditional national culture, look to the future, in order to find a broader national characteristics way for the Chinese book design.
