Abstract


Being one of the products of human activity, art is definitely included in the concept of culture. Art is not created from nothing, rather it is influenced by the specific culture in terms of function, content and form. As one of the ways for cultural transmission, inheritance and exchange, art education is the succession of established art as well as the creation of new art, i.e. both are unified in the dynamic process of inheritance and creation. Therefore in the era of visual art, the theoretical exploration of the relationship between art education and culture is something we cannot afford to ignore.To study traditional aesthetic art has to avoid being too reluctant to build theoretical framework, and contented in the accumulation of sense material or the separation between sense and rationality, which strictly speaking, cannot be deemed as the real art study. What is important is to find a comparative way for cultural study. Hence, to study the combination of our national art appreciation education and traditional aesthetic cultures requires us to have a clear knowledge of the differences and similarities between the current state, aesthetic ways and aesthetic consciousness of the traditional aesthetic cultures, and to find a new way for the development of art education in the aspect of culture.To study the current state of traditional culture is to study its existent state as a learning object; to study the special features of traditional aesthetic way is to establish its cultural identity; to study the fission of aesthetic consciousness has to pay attention to some historic factors in traditional aesthetics which can contribute to the development of contemporary visual culture; the significance of studying its combination with visual culture is to find the contemporary identity of traditional culture and to find a new way for the development of our national art education in the aspect of culture. Confirming the functions of traditional aesthetics in art education is good for cultivating a positive aesthetic state of mind, recovering our national self-confidence and establishing our national aesthetic consciousness.From the current study, we can see that the foundation is rather weak and it is lack of comprehensive cultural comparison. Therefore, the present author will do the study in the following ways: to compare the visual culture and traditional aesthetic culture from the aspects of culture and aesthetics such as aesthetic consciousness, aesthetic ways, historical context and the relation between both of them and humanity, i.e. to find their differences and similarities so as to look for some theoretical support for the combination of our national art appreciation education and traditional aesthetics while avoiding our art appreciation education getting lost in the era of visual culture.
