In recent years, with the rapid development of corpus linguistics, word block in the second language acquisition or foreign language acquisition has been the attention of more and more language teachers and researchers. Chunk is the high frequency of occurrence, as a whole, stockpiling and use of stylized sequence. It combines the advantages of syntax, semantics, and context, is considered to be the ideal language teaching units. Chunk can be traced back to the mid-nineteenth century. Scholars use different terms from different sides, to study the characteristics of the different angles of the word block. The study found that, whether spoken or written word blocks everywhere, they can help language learners to communicate more effectively and improve learners' oral and written fluency and accuracy. The study also showed that in a second language and foreign language acquisition, learners often based word blocks derived syntax rules. The word block an important role in language acquisition, research is critical learners Chunk. Word block, however, the main theoretical exploration, the object of study is also limited to college students, very few empirical studies use word block for high school. In view of this situation, the author mainly relying Nattinger and DeCarrico, word block classification theory, as the object of study of 131 high school seniors through the comparative analysis of the block the use of the word in a score of 33 essays and 35 were low-scoring essay and its corresponding questionnaire designed to explore the characteristics of the word block the use of high school English writing and the reason for the existence. The study found that: than low-scoring essay score essay using the word block; score essay in the low-scoring essay word blocks were hedges phrase, sentence framework, followed by polymerization lexeme Third, idiomatic expressions using the least; score essay polymerization word phrases restrictions phrase, sentence framework is significantly more than the low-scoring essay, while no apparent differences in idiomatic expressions; scores composition and low-scoring essay Chunk are relatively more single use, but low-scoring essay, the repeated use of the same word block and use some simple common words block more obvious. Also found that high school students, there are many problems in the use of the word block. The first part of the word block formal standards; partially correct word block is not used in the right context. By analyzing the survey found that the majority of high school students pay more attention to the word block the accumulation and apply it to writing. But also found that high school students is not enough emphasis on English Writing, and nearly thirty percent were usually not or never review learned Chunk, and almost half of the trial without the aid of the the context memory word block.
