With the continuous development of network technology and network applications are emerging , people put a higher demand on network efficiency , security and quality of service aspects . The current IPv4 protocol is still the primary protocol of the Internet , but in the practical application of the process revealed a growing number of shortcomings , mainly in the lack of address space , mobility is poor , the poor quality of service and low security . As the core of the next generation Internet protocol IPv6 protocol well solve the above problems , so its study and implementation has become the focus of network researchers . IPv6 protocol and network processing technology , in-depth study and discussion , and on this basis , design and implementation of a network processor - based IPv6 protocol stack . To achieve high-speed IPv6 packet forwarding using efficient forwarding microcode , multi-granularity thread parallelism and coprocessor acceleration technology . Meanwhile, to improve the security of the protocol stack , the paper proposes a neighbor found solution of attacks , and achieve virtual route forwarding protocol stack . In addition , PowerNP ASO (Advanced Software Offering) the use of component technology , control capability has good synergy between hardware and software . Design a network processor - based IPv6 protocol stack , and a detailed description of its main functional blocks . IPv6 basic modules , the neighbor discovery module , routing protocol modules , network processor entry organizations and management protocol stack modules to achieve . Finally, the overall performance of the test protocol stack . Mainly include ANVL software protocol conformance test system with the cisco router interconnection test AX/4000 of forwarding performance test . The test results show that the design of the IPv6 protocol stack has been basically achieved , and with higher performance . The paper work done and the results achieved , a larger theoretical and practical significance of the Development and Implementation of IPv6 router , and further research and development of the router architecture has a certain role and reference value .
