Abstract


With the development of economy and technology, products have been the core of the competition in enterprises. The technology, process and organization focus of enterprises has been transformed to database sharing, cooperation among the enterprises and virtual enterprises. PDM technology has become a key factor to be competitive among enterprises. PDM system should always be based on database. Because relational databases have developed very well and the program design language and databases connect seamlessly, it is possible that relational databases are used to solve the technology management problems in engineering field. The database management about mechanical parts is an important function of PDM system. Recent years, it has been a main trend both in and out of the country that 3D models should be saved in the database of mechanical parts, whose researches only focus on the theoretical research and the construction of standard parts database. Based on the actual situation of an enterprise, this thesis has mainly researched and developed the database of mechanical parts oriented PDM system in enterprises.In this thesis, the needs of enterprises and users on the performance and function of the system have been analyzed. According their needs, the general design and plan is done on network, opening, security and function of the system. SQL Server 2005 and PowerBuilder 9.0 are selected as tools to design and develop database system of mechanical parts. C/S model is good at security, and it’s more suitable to be used in enterprise LAN as a developed technology. The database system of mechanical parts is developed by object oriented database and program technology, ODBC standard interface is also adopted to connect the database and the application program.Adopting standard names and effective codes of parts is the key to save, extract and manage the data information conveniently. The features of parts and their extract criterions are analyzed, and the method to name and code parts is studied, according the study of more than 100000 parts used in a enterprise, the methods to classify, name and code parts are given. The parts can be named by core words and main dimension parameters of parts, classified into three layers including big, middle and small one, and encoded by ten codes and serial numbers.In the thesis, the database of mechanical parts and application program are developed. Security configuration and database forms to save data information are set. Friendly human computer interface is established by using object oriented program technology and intelligent program design. At last, some examples to illustrate the function and use of the system are introduced. The results have proved the availability of the system.
