With the calculation of the growing amount of data , the data is compressed more and more people pay attention to it , after decades of development and innovation efforts of scientists , today 's data compression technology has become increasingly mature , Gzip is the typical representative of one of them . The same time , a large amount of data requires a fast processor computing , Intel , as the world's largest chip manufacturer , are also constantly strive to improve processing speed . This paper studies the optimization problem of the Gzip EM64T processor . The author introduces two Intel processors and the Gzip related technologies through of processor and Gzip analysis , the first to use the processor architecture and Architecture Gzip analysis from the macro have a preliminary concept understanding ; followed by a further analysis on the compression principle as well as the realization of the entire compression process process , Gzip on the basis of an application from a 32-bit environment successfully transplanted into a 64-bit environment ; Finally, the the processor and Gzip characteristics of fully combined and after repeated experiments and testing to achieve the expected effect of the optimization . Optimization mentioned in this article is how to take advantage of the characteristics of the processor itself so as to enhance application performance optimization , I believe that his application is not just limited to Gzip , but there is much room for development . Article only Gzip EM64T processor optimized , we will use this as a starting point , and will in the future will further Gzip optimize on Itanium 2 , which further improve compression efficiency .
