Abstract


JPEG is an international standard for still image compression , and is also a common static images lossy compression techniques , it has a large compression ratio , visual distortion is small , and other characteristics . This thesis JPEG still image compression algorithm , and elaborate on the implementation and optimization of a JPEG encoder on the DSP . This paper introduces the JPEG encoder works , DCT transform , quantization , Huffman coding , and detailed analysis of the key algorithms in the JPEG compression standard process , and then completed a JPEG encoder on TI fixed-point digital signal processing chip TMS320VC5509A . Coding program ported to a DSP chip , suitable for DSP optimization work . Hardware structure for VC5509ADSP first structural adjustment of the algorithm , and then from the aspects of memory distribution , and storage space allocation optimization , optimized C code through the use of optimization options , inline functions and software pipelining , so coding efficiency is improved encoding speed and the results were analyzed and summarized . Experimental results show that the ideal compression JPEG standard compression image coding consuming very small , in one second up crew sent 13 720x576 grayscale images , to ensure that the image embedded remote monitoring system real-time transmission .
