Whichresulted from his inhabitancy in a fOreign nation, and pointed out that thepurpose of "Immigrams in New Nork" is to depict someWhat tragic meaningsin Chinese lives overseas at that time. Thus the paPer states both the westemculture and the Chinese culture play a significan role in Chinese’s ekistences.Why thOse intemational stUdents are at a loss, that is to say they have thelack of destination sense of wandering aimlessly in a strange land, along withthe failed certainty of the spchal self--ekiling. Correctly spealdng When aperson’s mother cultUre become declining, he or she has a failed fate in alIpowerful divergent culture. Fourthly, taking 揟he Resident in Taibei?as no example, the paper firstly analyzes the reasons and content of the profound sense of history in his works, thereby discloses people can not take future in hand in historical trend. And after analyzing the description about the nostalgia of the character in literature, the paper says that this sort of nostalgia is both a special one (they really missed the mainland before liberation) and a sort of time(what make them be nostalgic have already been unreturnable ). Meanwhile, between men and women in a quite deferent nostalgia that means a unrealizable dream. At last, the paper explores a variety of death described in 揟he resident in Taibei?the deaths serving as a forl and effecting decoying other living people, the spiritual deaths, the double deaths of body and spirit, the deaths reflecting the end of angel or history). In addition, the exploration includes people抯 attitude towards of helpless and the end failure in the face of death. However, we reach a conclusion about author抯 tragic consciousness in the procedure of exploring death: human can not direct their fate and death is irresistible.
