With the acceleration of urbanization period, to meet the urban constructionincreasing land demand, rural residential areas covers large area, which causes seriouscontradiction between human demand and land limitation. In such situation, it issignificant for land intensive use of rural residential areas.Based on conclusions of summarizing the predecessors’research, this paper refersother related areas of research achievements of urban land intensive use and settlementsat home and abroad. Firstly this paper discusses the connotation of intensive land use ofrural residential areas and related theory. Then in accordance with the constructionprinciple and construction method of the indicator system, this paper establishes overalland countries evaluation index system of rural residential areas intensive land use,which chooses rural residents investment intensity, land use strength, layout compactdegrees and use benefits of rural residential areas. After the overall evaluation ofchongqing, from 1999 to 2007 year Chongqing residential land intensive use degrees ishigher yearly, while it is slightly lower in 2008. After evaluating counties of Chongqing,the intensive land use of Chongqing host city shake lead, which followed wanshen,beibei, fuling, changshou, jiangjin, hechuan, yongchuan and nanchuan, whose intensiveland use step lower, such as shizhu, youyang, pengShui. Chongqing’s rural residentialareas problem of intensive land use caused by rural residential areas high land idlerating, or lag villages planning system, or large rural residential areas, or high per landconsolidation of residential area, or faster urbanization, or the large number of hollowvillage, or backward technology, or imperfect system, or illegal phenomenon of largevillage, or the designated position of funds and technology，or Chongqing unperfectedland ticket system. Therefore, to improve land intensive use of rural residential areas, itis necessary to improve the laws and regulations concerning the management of ruralresidential areas land, while actively exploring homestead exit mechanism, exploringthe scientific means for the construction, raising funds by several channels, to formbenefit drive intensive utilization of the rural residential areas land.
