Abstract

Purpose approach through improved orbitozygomatic the traditional orbitozygomatic approach anatomy comparative studies, comparison of these two a craniotomy step approach , exposure range and viewing angle to provide anatomical basis for the clinical use of improved approach , at the same time proposed clinical indications the improvement orbital zygomatic into the road . Methods skull specimens of 10 patients with 20 sides in 10% formaldehyde solution ( formalin) fixed adult cadavers . Poured red latex arterial system , venous system poured into the blue latex . Fixed cadaver surgical position in the surgical head holder , crossed the midline incision from the root of the zygomatic arch tragus 1 cm, soft on the forward bend , beyond the the contralateral pupil center line and the point of intersection of fortune . The improved orbital zygomatic approach two flap Act , including frontotemporal and superior orbital wall bone resection , use the ruler to measure the exposure range under the lens of the microscope , and cadaver specimens spiral CT the TLC scanning plus reconstruction surgery to measure the viewing angle . The traditional orbital zygomatic approach than the improved orbitozygomatic approach to increase the zygomatic arch , zygomatic bone and orbital wall resection , measured using the same method , the two comparative analysis . Results revealed the traditional orbitozygomatic approach area average ( 345.3 ± 5.15 ) mm2 , the average viewing angle ( 27.8 ± 1.02 ) ° ; the improved orbitozygomatic approach revealed area average ( 328.6 ± 5.25 ) mm 2 , viewing angle average ( 21.3 ° ± 1.34 ) ° . Traditional orbital zygomatic approach revealed an area slightly larger than the improved orbital zygomatic approach , statistical analysis by SPSS11.0 software package , there was no significant difference between the two ( P GT ; 0.05 ) Viewing angle was significantly greater than traditional orbitozygomatic approach the improved orbitozygomatic approach, the difference was statistically significant ( P lt ; 0.05 ) . Conclusion After a the quantitative anatomy comparative study found improved orbital zygomatic approach compared to traditional orbital zygomatic approach retains the advantages of the traditional approach orbitozygomatic , you can get the same exposure range , but the former surgical trauma craniotomy short time , cranial bottom bone defect is small, less postoperative complications related with the approach , while the latter side exposed more fully , lower viewing angle .
