Abstract


Chinese immigrants and their descendants is a collision of cultural exchanges between the East and the West , epitomized fusion , and arrived denounced the coexistence of contradictory groups . In their literary works , both cultural confluence , and never a lack of problems and distress caused by impact . In contemporary Chinese American literature as an important product of the multiculturalism of the United States and the world phenomenon of migration is starting to gain more and more attention . Asian American scholars pointed out that Kim Elaine Chinese American literary works is not only a literary sense , overall , also taking into account the social synthesis , a more important value of the historical documents . For contemporary critics , with detailed and accurate historical interpretation of the text , a cornerstone of the analysis of the work ; For the contemporary reader to understand the author of the text in which the social environment to stimulate interest in reading help absolve not necessary misreading and misunderstanding . The purpose of this thesis is to the relationship between the early -cum- Chinese-American life in the late 18th century to the 1960s , and their literary works, and both influence each other to do some careful combing . This paper is divided into three chapters , the first chapter Historical Survey and social background , because this is a Chinese American literary works and the premise . Chapter II including the Chinese Exclusion Act in the United States formally implemented on a time span of 60 years ( 1882-1943 ) . The third chapter of the time span from 1943 to the mid-1960s . Text clarify the context of time and historical events , overall grasp of the clues in the longitudinal direction at the same time good breakdown of each of the different stages of the collation , analysis and literary works .
