Abstract

Mary Flannery O'Connor (1925 --- 1964), the name in the history of American literature after World War II always flashing a dazzling and charming light. She had often been classified as the second generation of Southern writers group , and Carson McCullers , Eudora Welty and other par. In O'Connor 's eyes, Catholics , Southerners and writers dominate her life and the creation of the three effects . Her novels are based on the native town , but her strong religious beliefs determine the ultimate aim of writing \In this regard , she is a World War II American literature a unique writer. Critics acknowledged her short stories is more representative of outstanding literary achievement. O'Connor 's short stories are mostly one or more of the character's death and the end . Death in his works not only as a grotesque figure has been the result of violence and become reflected in their religious beliefs , the South backgrounds and life experiences as a platform , but it is also regarded as an effective follow- O'Connor, her intentions creative approach . Therefore, this paper mainly discusses the characters in O'Connor 's short story of death different situations , O'Connor two novels concentrated extract twelve novels touched death as an example , according to the division of categories related death situation , trying to narrative mode, scene settings, and symbolic significance to examine three aspects of the theme of death , indicating that the theme of the novel O'Connor different manifestations . On this basis, further clarify the unique perspective of death O'Connor processing and analysis of its creative approach to death as the final results.
