Abstract


Critical Discourse Analysis is a new means of Linguistics, has many of the characteristics of modern linguistics. As a systematic means of language learning, the focus of its attention, not only the structure and meaning of the language, but also concerned about the practical application of their social discourse. With the development of science and technology, the means of communication in people's lives, the mass media is one of the most prominent one, it allows people to a better understanding of the outside world. The mass media, including many species, of which the most common is the TV, radio, newspapers, magazines and official documents and so on. With the in-depth study of the relationship between language and ideology, more and more people start terminological analysis articles practices to analyze the characteristics of the language of the media discourse. In this article, the author first introduces the Critical Discourse Analysis, including the course of its development, research direction and purpose, associated with some important concepts. Also highlighting its development and have contributed to its development on the domestic and international well-known figures and their ideas. With the Critical Discourse Analysis in the news discourse analysis use more and more widely, its various analysis methods to reveal the hidden ideology in news discourse played a positive role. Thus the author also describes the ideological knowledge, including its definition of scholars taken a different understanding of language as well as reveal it in news discourse analysis methods. In the same time, the author also introduces support this theoretical basis, which is the theoretical basis for criticism of discourse analysis - Halliday's systemic functional grammar, especially his meta-functional theory. In the following analysis, the author tries to three major functions as a theoretical basis to do in-depth analysis of the English political news coverage of events in Tibet discourse. The main use of Halliday metafunctionality various implementations, analysis of the concept of function, characteristics and interpersonal function and textual function of the corpus. In order to more accurately reflect the ideology embodied in the discourse of the English political news coverage of events in Tibet, the authors selected from the website of the mainstream English-language media six reports were analyzed, which reveals different awareness of the Eastern and Western media of events in Tibet morphology and characteristics of news discourse. The source of these reports, including China's Beijing Review, China Daily and People's Daily, the British BBC and the Times Online, the United States Time (CNN partners). In the present study, the authors reported from the United States and the United Kingdom are classified as Group A report from China classified as Group B. Comparative analysis of the three major functions of the various implementations in these reports, which revealed that the two groups of journalists selected the same event with major newsworthy - events in Tibet, but they reported the focus is very different. And the different focus of news features and ideology as reflected in their reports there is a big difference. Specific data analysis, we can get the following conclusions: the reporters from China truthfully and objectively report the events in Tibet, which reflects their ideology is fair and objective coverage of this vicious incident not favor any party; while those from the United States and Britain reporters in the coverage of this event, but there are many biased and false phenomenon. Their focus is looking for an excuse for the Dalai clique's separatist activities. This reflects to some extent this vicious incident of favoritism, further proof that they are supporters of the Dalai Lama.
