This thesis discusses the progress of traditional Chinese and modern medical researches on Insulin Resistance and Insulin Resistance syndrome, and the experimental research on the effect of Tang Shen capsule on the lipometabolism of the Fructose-Fed Rats(FFR). The researches on Insulin Resistance and Insulin Resistance syndrome using traditional Chinese medicine include theoretic, clinical and laboratory studies. The thesis also includes: a systemic comparison to review the progress in the past ten years, a simple analysis on the problem and shortages of the researches, and a suggestion on the future direction. In the second part of the thesis, a summary is made on the definition, history, etiology, pathogenesis, investigation, diagnostic standard, relation with other diseases, and treatment of Insulin Resistance and Insulin Resistance syndrome in modern medicine in recent years. In the experimental study section, the insulin resistance of 60 FFR was evaluated by euglycemic hyperinsulinemic glucose clamp(GC)technique before and after they took Tang Shen capsule. We also observed the effect of Tang Shen capsule on the lipometabolism by determine the leptin, TC, TG, HDL-C, FFA of blood plasma. The results shows Tang Shen capsule can improve Insulin resistance, lower the leptin and FFA level of plasma. These results indicate that one of the mechanisms of insulin resistance of FFR maybe the change of FFA and leptin, on the other hand, Tang shen capsule may improve insulin resistance by modulation of FFA and leptin in FFR. This study may provide some benefit methods and idea for traditional Chinese medical basic research, prevention and intervene of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
