Abstract


Discourse analysis has a long history, the rhetoric of its predecessor, can be traced back to ancient Greek and Roman times. The 50s of the last century, discourse analysis (DA) started as an independent discipline gradually gained extensive attention from researchers. To today, it has become a multi-system and interdisciplinary research. Different theory and research point of view held by the researchers, they are not the same definition of discourse and discourse analysis under. Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), also known as \By analyzing the discourse of language features and it generates social and historical background to examine the ideology behind the significance of language structure and reveal the complex relationship between language, power and ideology. News discourse has been the focus of criticism linguists. But a review found that most of the studies are selected political news as corpus, analysis and research on natural disasters news has not been given sufficient attention. Natural disaster news and political news inevitably reflect the ideology as news discourse in common, but there are few natural disasters news discourse is unique in the relevant research literature selected for this study natural disaster news discourse analysis object, in order to on existing critical news discourse analysis to be a supplement. The paper selected 47 of the United States, \This study attempts to investigate these reports is affected by the impact of ideology? If so, by what kind of ideology impact? These ideologies and how to enter text? These ideological and political and cultural context, what kind of relationship? In this paper, Halliday's functional linguistics, Fairclough's three-dimensional model, that is the news as text, the unity of discourse and social practices, and the relevant discourse analysis from the three levels. At the text level, the article from the perspective of transitivity, tone modality and classification and other language characteristics of the news reports investigated; in the discourse practice level, sources and relayed way to study the the News Discourse Mutual text sex; social practical level, the news discourse in the political history and cultural context of seeking explanation on the choice of the level of text and discourse practice level. This paper is divided into six parts. The first section describes the source of the purpose and significance of this study. The second part of the review of domestic and international news discourse, especially critical discourse analysis of news discourse perspective of historical research and the status quo. The third section describes the theoretical basis of critical discourse analysis - Halliday's systemic functional grammar and Fairclough Critical Discourse Analysis mode. The fourth part introduces the statistical methods of data used in this study, including data collection and analysis methods. The fifth part of the analysis and discussion Halliday functionalism as the theoretical basis, using Fairclough three-dimension model selected 10 reported expand quantitative and qualitative research. Part VI is reviewed and summarized the entire study, draw conclusions and point out the limitations of this study.
