Abstract


Zi Xue Zhi Nan was written by ZhuGuangJia during the Ming Dynasty in Shanghai. It was published in Wangri midwinter of Ming Dynasty Wanli Xinchou, that is lunar November 15th A.D.1601. Although this book was very similar to Yun Xue Ji Cheng which was written by ZhangBi in A.D.1460 Ming Dynasty, its publishment was latter than Yun Xue Ji Cheng, so its content and characteristic are both worth our investigation..In this thesis, methods of FanQie interconnection, phonological discrimination, statistical and so on are used to analyze the phonetic system of the book. On this basis, we not only compare the conclusion with modern Shanghai dialect, but also compare it with Shanghai dialect of the Ming Dynasty which was summarized by both Mr.XuBaoHua and Mr.YouRuDong, as well as compare it with the phonetic system of later Ming Dynasty Shanghai dialect which was summarized by Mr.MaChongQi Furthermore, we have surmised its phonetic system and then conjectured that it is a synthetical system which is based on Ming and Qing Dynasty literary sound and also combined with much seventeenth century Shanghai dialect element.Generally speaking, the phonetic system that Zi Xue Zhi Nan reflects more is the actual sound at that time. Based on former rhythm books, it inherited them and innovated them. Although people were not so highly apprised of this book, it has certain value for the study of recent period Chinese Phonetics, especially for the study of Ming Dynasty Shanghai dialect and studies of common words. As a rhythm book reflecting recent period Shanghai dialect, we should put emphasize on it.
