Abstract


Abstract:The period of 1918 to 1947 belongs to modern Chinese history,which is a historical turning point when chinese poery began to develop out of old-style form into a brand new direction---free verse written in the vernaccdar. It was in the first publication of New Youth Volume Four that the new-style poems were first pubulished,and there were nine poems in total including Pigeon by Hu shi,A Barrier of one Tier of paper by Liu Bannong etc. Therefore, scholars have marked the nine newly-developed poems as the beginning of the free verse written in the vernaccdar in China. It was also this period that gave birth to large numbers of poets and poetic critics in Anhui, many of whom not only made brilliant achievement of Chinese poetry such as Hu shi ,Wang jingzhi,Zhu xiang,Tian jian and Tao xingzhi.And the poets of Anhui became the main momentum driving the number of poems and albums and poetic achievements in every period of creation. Therefore,our research on their poems and poetic theories contributes to our study of the development of Modern Chinese Literature, our exploration of the process of the birth and development of Modern Chinese Poetry,and our tapping of the achievement of the culture of Anhui.Based on our predecessors’analyses on modern poets, poems and poetic theories,the text has objectirvely narrated the creation of modern poems and poetic theories of the poets of Anhui as well as pored through the cultural background of this phenomenon.Setting broadly in the development of modern Chinese poetry ,the text has a detailed reflection of the modern poems and Anhui poets. Besides,the research on Anhui poets is not identified by who is major or who is minor,but tries to demonstrate a broad view of the poets’creation and historical value,based on the introductions of some major individuals.A sincere aspiration is what we have gained, to bring the contributions the Anhui poets have had on the birth of development of Modern Chinese Poetry back to life both completely and vividly and the development of Anhui’s modern culture.
