Abstract


So-called "naughty children" image is of significance in children literature history. Making a breakthrough in study of "naughty children" which has focused on the image of naughty children in foreign children literature, I studied the naughty children image in contemporary children literature so as to explore the significance of the image for Chinese children literature, even for contemporary Chinese literature, to discuss whether naughty children would co-exist with education, and to probe the relationship between naughty children and the modern appeal of education.Taking naughty children as "landscape", I examined the discovery of "children" and that of "naughty children" from the perspective of modern children view and explored the corresponding relationship between the two. By doing so, in this article I put emphasis on the significance of May Fourth New Culture Enlightenment movement for discovery of children, on the influence of last 80th New Enlightenment movement for naughty children, on the dialectic relationship between the discovery of naughty children and the establishment of children in Chinese contemporary children literature, on their modernistic implication. Restriction and punishment of naughty children stands for unfinished modernism while naughty children, the symbol of nature and revel, signify the redeeming of gradually vanished humanity. Adults who have been affected by alienated humanity salute unpolluted dignity of humanity by the image of naughty children. The transformation of the "family", the influence of folk culture, the competition between the two "kingdom", adult and children, all imply the reason for the restriction and punishment of naughty children. I confirmed, "naughty children" is in fact a romantic landscape with free fantasy, happy games, a landscape full of hopes. I hope more and more Chinese "naughty children" could join. We adults could discover "children", but only children could become the "foundation" of childhood.
