Abstract


Advertisements have practically invaded every aspect of our lives. Many linguists have conducted researches on the special features of ad languages from different approaches. Although there are fruitful research achievements most of their focus has been devoted to the features of ads at linguistic level. This thesis attempts to carry out the study from the intercultural perspectives. As for the six chapters of the thesis, literature review appears at the beginning of this thesis, and then the analysis of the features of ads at lexical, syntax, pragmatics and rhetoric levels follow with figures. In the following part the author contrasts Chinese and English ads in intercultural perspectives and put forward a proposal to the translation and creation of ads. This thesis aims at raising the researcher’s understanding and appreciation of advertisement language, and has certain directive significance to the advertising creators. By offering more culture background knowledge it is helpful to better understand advertising language and to obtain more cultural experience in the creation of ads. With deeper insight offered in the text the domestic advertising employees oriented to the international market could promote the internationalization of China’s advertisement and help China’s advertisement heighten the uniqueness of native country.
