Abstract


Hunan Province is the most important rice-producing areas of the South , the area under rice cultivation and production rank the forefront of the country . Rice is the most important staple food crop in Hunan , along with the era of the accession to the WTO trade liberalization , the Hunan rice industry competitiveness in the domestic and foreign trade , is related to the the Hunan Agricultural overall competitiveness level and the majority of rice farmers in Hunan economic benefits of a major issue . This article describes a comparative advantage , factor endowments , returns to scale and competitive advantage in international trade theory , a simple Analysis History and recent developments of various theoretical models . Analysis of the rice industry in Hunan production, consumption and the current situation of the domestic and foreign trade , domestic and foreign trade potential of the Xiangmi to do the analysis . Then the use of the current domestic mainstream model for the calculation of the international competitiveness of agricultural products - trade competitiveness index and display of competitive advantage index , an empirical analysis of the international competitiveness of Hunan rice . The estimates showed that Hunan rice has a competitive advantage, but the advantage is not obvious and the core competitiveness has not yet formed . Finally, it proposes to establish a new concept of food security , improve the quality of rice , to further reduce rice production costs (especially labor costs ) , leading to the development of rice enterprises to speed up the policy recommendations of the rice market system . Hunan rice yield advantage for the economic efficiency advantages in order , all-round to enhance the international competitiveness of Hunan rice to achieve the transformation of the rice industry in Hunan province to the province of the rice industry .
