Abstract


The continously increasing floating population, which is the outcome of China’s reform and opening up policy and market-oriented economy as well as the influencial element of the social and economic development of Shanghai. Consequently, it plays an important part in the harmonious and sustainable development of the society and economy in Shanghai to further do well in the administration of the floating population. This essay focuses on the administration of the floating population in Xujing,Qingpu, Shanghai.The researching methods of this essay includes documents and questionnaire. As the main method in this research, the method by documents gains theory and facts basis from enormous writings, stratistic yearbooks and policy documents. In the meanwhile, the purpose of the method by questionnaire lies in understanding the current situation of the administration of floating population in Xujing by two aspects, the government and the population itself. Integrating and permeating reciprocally, these two methods have great significance in the successful researching process.This essay makes up of four aspects, the first chapter of which introduces the background and significance of the research, the brief account of relating documents and researching design and management,the second chapter of which elaborates the economy, culture and education of Xujing, mainly focusing on the age structure, culture structure and living style, the third chapter of which expounds the issue caused by increasing floating population and analyses its cause by the current situation of administration of floating population in Xujing basing on documents and survy, the last chapter of which puts forward the measures of how to improve the administration of floating population combined with the basic economic and social circumstances in Xujing.
