Abstract

Collecting Rosa cv.cultivars from Henan, Shanghai and Yantai and Tai’an of Shandong, building garden of Rosa Germplasm Resource in Tai’an which includes the six groups of traditional classification and then identifying them on the base of morphological taxonomy, palynology, numerical taxonomy and isozyme analysis. First, 39 morphological index were choosed and coded. The principal component analysis considered that the stub type is the first criterion in the cultivar taxonomy of Rosa chinensis, the flower character is the second criterion and the leaf character is the third criterion. Then Q-cluster analysis was made using 26 morphological index rechoosed after principal component analysis and R-cluster analysis. Result showed that the 30 cultivars could be classified into 4 groups. The first group included 12 cultivars: Rosa ‘Rosa’、Rosa ‘Salvia’、Rosa ‘Sabelinna’、Rosa ‘General Grown’、Rosa ‘Pink Panther’、Rosa ‘Adventure’、Rosa ‘Crimson Glory’、Rosa ‘Kently’、Rosa ‘Yangguang Jinfen’、Rosa ‘Yangguang Shenfen’、Rosa ‘Belami’s Change’and Rosa ‘Purple Peace’. The second group included 5 cultivars: Rosa ‘Jubilation’、Rosa ‘Xanadu’、Rosa ‘Darthuizer Orange Fire’、Rosa ‘Angela’and Rosa‘Compassion’. The third group included 4 cultivars: Rosa ‘Rosy Carpet’、Rosa ‘Bassino’、Rosa ‘Red Dogface’and Rosa ‘Betty Prior’. The forth group included 9 cultivars: Rosa ‘Grand Merriment’、Rosa ‘Sohloss Mannieim’、Rosa ‘Hanabusa’、Rosa ‘Mirth’、Rosa ‘Five Sisters’、Rosa ‘Freegold’、Rosa ‘Gold Sun’、Rosa ‘Purple Time’and Rosa ‘Rainbow’s End’. In order to explain relations of these cultivars, palynology and isozyme analyses were further made. The cultivars’ pollens were observed with electronic microscope. The conclusion displayed that the pollens of Rose cv. are very similar in morphology. Most of them are of long sphericity, of radiate symmetry. The sight of equator is ellipse or long ellipse. Most of them have triangle round polar side, have three broad and shallow budding channels distributing in a round circle averagely and all of them belong to N3P4C3 according to Erdtman’s NPC classification system. Most of cultivar’s pollen has striation veins or cockle-wavy-form veins and number and diameter of holes are different. Sixteen pollen indexs were used in the principal component analysis and then they are used in the following cluster analysis. The result showed that the difference of the pollens was not unanimous with the difference of morphology. Through the line Lq2=1.1958, twenty cultivars could be classified into 5 groups. The first group included 5 cultivars: Rosa ‘Jubilation’、Rosa ‘Xanadu’、Rosa ‘Angela’、Rosa ‘Rosa’、and Rosa ‘Compassion’. The second group included 6 cultivars: Rosa ‘Red Dogface’、Rosa ‘Betty Prior’、Rosa ‘Grand Merriment’、Rosa ‘Kently’、Rosa ‘Yangguang Jinfen’and Rosa ‘Belami’s Change’. The third group included 2 cultivars: Rosa ‘Rosy Carpet’and Rosa ‘Bassino’. The forth group included 4 cultivars: Rosa ‘Sohloss Mannieim’、Rosa ‘Hanabusa’、Rosa ‘Mirth’and Rosa ‘Five Sisters’. The fifth group included 3 cultivars: Rosa ‘White Koster’、Rosa ‘Gold Sun’and Rosa ‘Purple Time’. Integrated morphology index and pollen index and did further cluster analysis, the result showed that 19 cultivars could be classified into 6 groups, relations of Rosa ‘Rosa’、Rosa ‘Kently’、Rosa ‘Belami’s Change’、Rosa ‘Yangguang Jinfen’and relations of Rosa ‘Jubilation’、Rosa ‘Xanadu’、Rosa ‘Angela’、Rosa ‘Compassion’are close; relations of Rosa ‘Rosy Carpet’and Rosa ‘Bassino’and relations of Rosa ‘Red Dogface’、Rosa ‘Betty Prior’and Rosa ‘Grand Merriment ’are close; relations of Rosa ‘Sohloss Mannieim’、Rosa ‘Hanabusa’、Rosa ‘Mirth’、Rosa ‘Five Sisters’and relations of Rosa ‘Gold Sun’、Rosa ‘Purple Time’are close. The cluster analysis of the polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of Peroxidase displayed that Rosa ‘Red Dogface’and Rosa ‘Betty Prior’should be classified into Floribunda Roses according to traditional classification, but morphological and isozyme analysis showed they had a closer relationship of Rambier Roses, and the cultivar Rose was liable to be classified into Climbing
