Abstract


Lichen planus (LP)is an inflammatory mucocutaneus disease .LP is distributed worldwide. The prevalence of LP is estimated less than 1 percent of the population. LP has a specific clinical manifestation and pathological characteristics. Because of variants of the clinicopatholgical manifestation, LP is easy to be misdiagnosed .This study further investigated the clinical manifestation and pathological characteristics of LP to avoid misdiagnoses or interventions and a delay of appropriate treatment.105 outpatients were included in this study. The clinic data and skin lesions of LP patients is collected. The histopathological characteristics of LP skin lesions is observed under optical microscope. The clinical and histopathological features were analyzed retrospectively. The mobidity rate of man to women was 1 to 1.5 and the average age of patients is 43.97±6.23 years old .Their disease duration ranged from 14 day to 10 years. 31 cases(29.5%) have pruritus .The predilection sites were limbs, chest-backs and mucous membrane.The classical appearance of skin lesions includes violaceous polygonal flat-topped papuleas and plaques.The variants of LP include hypertrophic LP, LP pigmentosus, atrophic LP, bullous LP, zosteriform LP, annular LP, actinic LP, palms and sole LP. Lesions distributed on mucosa in 36 patients (34.4%)and on nail in 3 patients. Histopathological features of the cases were all consistent with those of Lichen Planus and cases with earlier
