Abstract


Objectives: The study was aimed at investigating the present situation and influencing factors of medication compliance of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease (CHD), and setting up scientific basic data, so as to provide scientific basis for improving medication compliance of chronic diseases. Methods: 3 grade III and 15 grade II general hospitals in Anhui province were selected by random sampling. 1830 subjects, who went to the doctor again in the above selected hospitals during July of 2004 and whose course of disease was all one month and above, were interviewed with the medication compliance schedule. All data were input into computer with the software Epi info 6.04, and analysed with the SPSS. Results: (1)The medication compliance schedule has high reliability and validity, which can be used in the surveys of medication compliance of other chronic diseases. In the research, medication compliance was generally not good because medication compliance rate of the 1830 patients was only 45.8%,with one of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and CHD 46.4%、 45.7% and 44.9%, respectively. There was no significant difference among the drug compliance rates of the three chronic diseases. Forward stepwise Logistic regression showed: (1) Higher frequency of taking medicine, longer duration of the medication regimen and a larger number of preparations were the common blocking factors of the three chronic diseases, but more attention paid to the suffered disease, satisfaction with family income were the common advancing factors of them.(2)Trust in medical professionals, longer consulting time, knowledge of non-compliance harm might improve medication compliance of hypertension. The compliance decreased as forms of preparations increased.(3)More knowledge of the disease and related drugs, longer dispensing time, and drugs adequately-labeled may improve the drug compliance of patients with diabetes, while the compliance decreased as ways to
