Abstract


Since the sustained development of cities is the serious challenge faced by the human kind in the 21st century, the sustained land utilization in cities is vital to the development of cities. If there is no land development and utilization in cities, there will be no land that meet various applications, let alone any functional event in cities. Hence, what decides whether the land in cities of China can develop forward sustainedly is whether the land utilization in cities can be carried out in a sustained and effective way, i.e., whether the land in cities can be used sustainedly. As a controlling factor in the urban development, the land is facing more serious challenge in Taizhou City than in other cities. The paper tries to, under the instruction of the sustained development theory and in view of the actual land utilization in the urban area of Taizhou City, make an in-depth analysis on the current land utilization status, scale feature, and existing problems in land utilization in the urban area of Taizhou City. It adopts the research method with the combination of qualitative description and quantitative analysis and considers the development plan in the "eleventh-five-year-plan" of Taizhou City to bring forward the future sustained land utilization strategy, objectives, key points, and stages. In addition, it considers the pattern and structure of the land for construction in the city to further figure out the policy suggestions that are operable in the sustained land utilization of the urban area of Taizhou City （including the shift of economic growth mode, construction of the ecological city, proper population, urban culture, the formation of social organizations）, so as to achieve the sustained development in the land utilization economically, ecologically, and socially, and finally realize the sustained development of the urban area of Taizhou City.
