Abstract

Reverse logistics play a critical role in the reservation of states resource and the acquisition on enterprises’sustainable competition. America, Japan and other developed countries in Europe have gone far ahead of China in the reverse logistics practice. The reverse logistics management in our country is still under the poor conditions and at the stage of RL concept introducing presently, except that in Taiwan province. Meanwhile, due to more and more attention are paid on the environment and resource protection issues, there have been many counties already brought forward plenty of environmental laws and regulations associated with reverse logistics to manage civil merchandise business and even production manner. Therefore those enterprises who cannot follow and reach relevant legislation requisition would be washed out of the international market after all. It is certain that in a near future any ambitious enterprise who ignores reverse logistics management during their business operation will find themselves throwing obstacles in their way coming into the global market or have to pay out a costly expense for their weak RL power even they have been in the global market at moment. Hence on the one hand what our Chinese enterprises can do is learning and copying other countries’successful experiences, on the other hand we ought to work hard to keep up with the advanced development of RL, match RL theories with related practical realities, and then take proper innovation according to our country’s circumstances. In view of the above mentioned, the main purposes of this thesis are to make the enterprises in our country to be aware of the importance of RL, to encourage them to implement reverse logistics management after a openly display of the world class RL improvement, and to study RL characteristics and principia in a real enterprise, namely HG Company, then to fulfill the management on reverse logistics activities and process. By the means of anatomizing the connotation of reverse logistics, the thesis points out that the emphasis of enterprises’RL is the products’macro-reverse logistics aiming at capturing the business-economic benefits or minimizing the business-economic loss. HG Company, a consumer goods manufacturer is taken as an underpinning in the thesis for supporting the study of enterprises’RL features. An important conclusion is reached from the detailed deeply analysis and study on HG Company’s reverse logistics: the essence of RL management in enterprises’operation is to transform as most aspossibly the direction of reverse logistics from opposite to forward logistics to coincide with it. The conclusion further discloses the nature of reverse logistics management. According to the preceding analysis result on its reverse logistics features, a structural design of the reverse logistics management for HG Company is suggested as a whole RL solution by the thesis, which includes three phases respectively described as RLM guidelines, RLM system and RLM performance assessment. Concretely speaking, RLM guidelines embodies the purpose and scopes of the RL management which should be determined by the high level of company’s management; RLM system refers to the RL management substantiation; RLM performance assessment means to evaluate the RL management’s results and improvement. Thereby all the dispersive reverse logistics activities are organized and systematized in the perspective of RL management. Another interesting study made in the thesis is referring to RL forecasting feasibility also based on HG Company’s circumstances. The result of the study shows that to some degree, the times and the quantity of RL activities are quite foreseeable, which is inconsistent with the previous literature opinions. All the research involved in the thesis for the enterprise RL management and practice may be not mature enough but can still be taken as an endeavoring and pioneering study for our country’s enterprise.
