Abstract


At the present time, The EMS (express mail service) of Chengdu Post is confronted with big challenge. First, the EMSC is in face of the competitions from the private company and big foreign company which are engaged in EMS. Secondly, with the IT and E-Commerce booming, the speed increase of traditional business of EMS is being slackened. Thus, based on the above mentioned, constructing company for EMS is the only way to reform in future. In this paper, I suggest clearly the opportunities and challenges faced by the EMS of Chengdu, by making use of five powers model constructed by Porter and general theory of competition strategy, combining the theory of market subdivision and service pricing, and analyzing the environment the EMS of Chengdu is in and the status of its rivals. In the end of the paper, I bring forward the main operation strategies the EMS of Chengdu should adopt.
