Abstract


The Renaissance in the history of Western Europe is the period of steady development and improvement of women’s education. Women’s education during this period in terms of content, forms and methods has made a breakthrough. Sports, art, history and other humanist disciplines officially became the part of women’s education, also the family and the guild in education played an increasingly visible role in new education ideas. New educational concepts and thoughts continue to emerge, and are put into practice by educators. The characters of women education during Renaissance are religious and secular, theoritical and practiced, independence and delayed. Women’s education during this period expanded the scope, providing more and more educational opportunities, and the level of knowledge had been upgraded somewhat. These changes in Western Europe at that time made it possible that more women could participate in social activities, to upgrade the self-worth, to enhance social status, and to lay a foundation for the subsequent development of the education of girls, and the revolution of women.The subject of this thesis is the women’s education of western European renaissance, which aims at having a deep understanding of the women’s education in this period, and providing reference to the reform and the development of Chinese education.
