Abstract


Patriotism is the core and essence of Chinese nations’good traditions. China is a very old nation with a 5000-year-old civilization, and this history of civilization is also a history of patriotism education. In recent years, the patriotic actions of university students have aroused extensive social concerns. When facing with some significant events, the main manifestation of current college students’patriotism is rationality, which makes people looking at them with new eyes. However, many students’patriotic sentiments are packed with radicalness as well as parochialism. It is of great significance to strengthen ethnic utility and maintain social stability by redress some improper acts of patriotism and give correct guidance to these ethnic minority college students.Rational patriotism is a good behavior based on the judgments of the overall situation and analysis of pros and cons of one’s act. It is to the benefit of the development of the country. And it is focused on the core interests of the country and the nation, furthermore, it is also integrate ones own ideal and career into the socialist modernization. It is a driving force of social progress. Rational patriotism could put national interests and social interests above personal interests, when the former two are incompatible with the latter one, personal interests may consciously give way to the national interests and social interests so as to make serving one’s country and contribution to the society as utmost pursuit for realize one’s value of life.The patriotism education for the college students is closely related to the future of the country and the nation. The patriotism education for the youth, especially for the ethnic minority university students has even greater bearing on the national solidarity and harmonious development of the country. This thesis makes an investigation on ethnic minority college students’status quo of patriotism and also makes an analysis on the reason of irrational patriotic behavior. The thesis combines the general characteristic of the youth today and the specific characteristic of the ethnic groups, so conclude the modes and methods of rational patriotism education for ethnic minority university students.In view of improper patriotic behaviors which due to a series of reason such as national mentality, the relationships of different ethnic groups, national consciousness and blurring concepts of country and motherland, etc., the rational patriotism education and guidance for ethnic minority college students should based on the guidance of Marxism-Leninism and the creed of national policies, insisting on the rules of positive education and being patriotic while abiding by the law. National solidarity education should be launched among ethnic minority university students. We should make the conscious of utility of the country and the nation as the breakthrough point and make many education channels including public politics subject and great events as the carriers of education at colleges so as to make ethnic minority university students gradually realize that the love for a nation and for the country as well as the love for the country and for socialism are in accordance with each other. Therefore the love for a country as well as for socialism can be unified and our goals of rational patriotism education can be achieved.
