Abstract


With the development of the knowledge-based economy and the information technology, international interaction and cooperation in education are becoming more and more often. As a result, international education service trade expands significantly, which has become a very important part of international trade. International education service trade reflects the competitiveness of a country’s educational industry in the international education market. However, China has always been in adverse balance in education service trade, which is getting more and more serious with the further open in Chinese education area after China entering WTO. We should take active measures to promote the reform of our educational system and to strengthen the competitiveness of Chinese educational service trade. Through the development of educational service trade, we’ll expand exports in educational service trade and improve the structure of import and export.Education is an important component of the third industry of national economy, which has cultivated a lot of talents for other departments. And the high-quality creative talents, which are cultivated by high level education, are the key to the success of a country in the international competition. Comparing to the developed country, Chinese overall educational level is not high. The drag effect of lack of high-end talents and educational scale is increasingly apparent. As a result, how to use education trade service to introduce high-quality foreign educational resources to promote the development of our education and to encourage the export of our educational service has become a worth thinking strategic problem.Study on the educational service trade not only has immediate practical significance, but also has theoretical significance. Under this situation, I choose the development of Chinese educational service trade as the topic of my paper.On the basis of the former research, this paper comprehensively analyzes the status, competitiveness and problems of Chinese educational service trade. The whole paper can be divided into five parts. The first part introduces the domestic and international background of the topic, and reviews the relevant domestic and foreign literature as a solid foundation of the paper. The second part explains the relevant concepts and theories of educational service trade. The third part, according to the four forms of educational service trade, analyzes the import and export situation of Chinese educational service trade. The forth part takes use of not only the Diamond Model to analyze the competitiveness of Chinese educational service trade but also the indices of market share, Trade Competitive, Revealed Comparative Advantages and Competitive Advantage to analyze it. Through analyzing we can know that the competitiveness of our education service trade is low and there are a lot of problems in it. Although exists the problems, our education service trade also has some unique advantages. In the last of this part, I summarize the problems and advantages of Chinese educational service trade. The fifth part according to the above problems raises the actions and policies to solve the problems and to strengthen the competitiveness of our educational trade service.
