Abstract

Asphalt concrete pavement structure as a road surface layer is completely exposed to the natural environment, a variety of vehicles to withstand repeated loads role and cyclical changes in the natural environment outside influence . Therefore, the study of asphalt concrete pavement structure and mechanical properties of fatigue characteristics , we must also consider traffic load and ambient temperature changes common role. This paper focuses on the asphalt concrete pavement periodically varying ambient temperature and traffic load under repeated fatigue characteristics were studied . First , the application of the finite element software to calculate the linear elastic static load cases asphalt pavement structural response , followed by a typical summer and winter climate on two-dimensional plane strain condition, one day all the major moments road structure steady temperature field and transient temperature field day process of change , as well as thermo-elastic plane strain assumption asphalt pavement temperature stress distribution and diurnal variations were analyzed in detail . Finally , on the basis hotline elastic coupling effects of temperature and load reduced to the role of stress superposition , also discussed the fatigue mechanism of asphalt pavement , and with the test regression formula gives the theoretical asphalt concrete pavement fatigue life. The results show that for asphalt concrete pavement , the load stress is a major factor affecting road fatigue , and thermal stress can not be ignored . Cause fatigue cracking of asphalt concrete pavement structure damage is mainly due to cyclical changes in the temperature of the pavement structure and traffic load stress the dual role of both destruction mechanism is due to fatigue damage caused by repeated action .
