Abstract


With the application of linguistic research focus from \Restricting foreign language learning in a variety of factors such as learning environment, age, gender, motivation, attitude, language aptitude, personality, cognitive style, emotional factors, the impact of foreign language learning strategy is an important factor in learning. Language Learning Strategies in College English teaching and learning has an important role, but teachers often focus only on the current knowledge of the language professors while ignoring the student's learning process and learning methods, teaching and learning in a way out of line. Therefore, learn more about student learning strategies put into teaching and training in all aspects of college English teaching in college English teaching to have become an urgent need. Firstly, the definition of learning strategies are classified on the different views are described, compared and analyzed, and then recalled the second language learning strategies history and current situation, on the basis of analysis of the key research areas are within two controversial issues: (1) learning strategies and Second Language Achievement relationship; (2) learning strategies and learning styles and personality associated with other variables. Then thesis based on the theoretical basis of learning strategies, teaching practice for adult students of English Learning Strategies characteristics and tendencies of systematic empirical research. The institute has three problems to be solved: (1) students to use language learning strategies frequency; (2) use of strategies and foreign language achievement relationship; (3) use of influence strategies learners factors such as gender, learning environment, style. Through data collection, statistics, collation and analysis, we found that students' language learning strategies in the order of frequency of use: cognitive strategies, compensation strategies, metacognitive strategies, affective strategies, social strategies and memory strategies. Strategies used in correlation with the results of second language studies, second language and social achievement and metacognitive strategies were positively correlated with affective strategies was negatively correlated; freshman and sophomore students in the policy on the use of frequencies no significant difference; English learning situations of self-evaluated as \Gender differences in learning strategy use is not obvious; school of science and engineering students in the meta-cognitive strategies
