Abstract


Database migration , that is to change the original system back-end database management system, while still maintaining the original system architecture , data and front-end and back-end application logic . This process is usually very large , it involves a database schema objects transplantation , data migration , code porting , system testing , and many other technical issues . The fundamental purpose is to upgrade the database migration , that is, to solve the existing system functionality or performance problems, which the transplantation of the target system performance tuning is very important principal part of the transplant project . Finally, the transplant works generally do not change the logical structure of the original system , which makes it the test should be mainly focused on the comparison test on the original system and the target system , which is different from the general engineering . Comparison test is usually divided into two aspects: correctness and performance testing so - called test the correctness of the transplant system , which requires to maintain consistency with the original system logic functions have the same output as the same input , including exception handling output ; the so - called performance testing , in the same peer-to-peer system hardware and software operating environment , compared to the original system and the running time of the transplant system , to help performance improvements . This article is based on PA ( Performance Analytics ) system migration project from Sybase to Oracle database migration process , the various stages of the problems encountered and solutions , skills, focuses discusses the special code conversion transplant system performance tuning and comparison test programs , in order to complete covering all aspects of general database migration project , a reference value for other database migration project . This article focuses on the discussion of the database management system transplantation , understanding the function of the system is not brought into the the transplant project development cycle , also added difficulty in conversion and testing . Therefore , the integration of functional understanding and transplantation system source code , is still in this article should continue to explore the place , but also the database transplant direction of development projects .
