Abstract


Wang Xiaobo went into our vision in the 1990s, in which there were complex social structure and all sorts of cultural elements. The social included pre-modemity, modernity and late-modernity, which produced multicoloured culture. That is to say, popular culture, elitist culture and authoritative ideological culture scrambled for readers. In the elitist culture, radicals and conservatives were contending. In literature field, there were same appearances. Wang Xiaobo, as a elitist intellectual, struggled for modernity in his texts. He did that because he had known that "human" encountered a terrible disaster in "cultural revolution" and in reality. Wang Xiaobo was a witness of the disaster and a deceived person. According to the history, he thought about Chinese modernity and the being of "human". He criticized Chinese history and reality in order to call for the freedom and liberation of "human" by the western enlighten ideology.He criticized the authority-discourse which smothers humanity by the principle of freedom and refuted the ethics principle of traditional culture which suppresses and restricts "human" from various angles by the principle of reason which liberates "human". In his texts, he described all kinds of enslavements "human" has suffered. He described the alienation of humanity under those enslavements, meanwhile he described the revolt of "human". LiJing, Hong Fu, Yu Xuanji, Wang Er were heroes whichstruggled for freedom. By them, Wang Xiaobo developed a kind of spirit ------ not tosurrender, not to abandon in order to get the freedom and the right of "human".Probably, Wang Xiaobo was extreme. His extreme brought him the doubt of People which thought his idea wasn’t profound and rigorous. But as far as I am concerned, the value of Wang Xiaobo is to make people pay attention to the most fundamental things of "human". Therefore, how far the enslavement goes, how far the revolt will go and how far the value of WangXiaobo will go.
