Abstract


The integration of economic globalization and environmental globalization is an irreversible trend nowadays. The issue of trade and environment has become focus of academic community and general public in recent years. How to correctly handle relationship between trade and environment is becoming an important issue which all countries and regions urgently need to resolve.China’s accession to the WTO on 10th December 2001 is a grim and realistic challenge to China’s trade development and environmental protection. WTO trade measures have had and will continue to have a profound impact on China’s trade, environment and economic growth. Jiangxi province, in China’s middle underdeveloped area, has somewhat comparative advantages of resources and environment, but its economic development is lagging, its level of environmental technology is low and its environmental awareness is thin. With development of trade and industry and increase of environmental pressure, the inherent contradiction and conflict of trade and environment will become intensified, which thereby constrains sustainable development of Jiangxi’s economy. From the perspective of comprehensively establishing an affluent society and accelerating economic development of Jiangxi, the study on Jiangxi’s harmonious development of trade and environment will become urgent and important.This paper is divided into six chapters to elaborate the issue of trade and environment of Jiangxi province under WTO framework. Chapter one briefly introduces research background and significance, research status in and abroad, research ideas and contents, and features and innovations of this paper. Chapter two expatiates on relative theories and interaction of trade and environment, root of theirs conflict, and analyzes necessity of their harmonious development by game matrix. Chapter three mostly discusses trade-environment rules and related issues of WTO, including origin of trade-environment issue of WTO, agreements and provisions related to environment in WTO, conflict of trade and environment in WTO system, and basic position of China in the new round of WTO negotiations on trade and
