News and entertainment were two apparently different conceptions. But now it is difficult to distinguish them immediately. As the media becoming an industry, news is more and more taken as one kind of goods. For getting more audiences and profit, news, especially hard news has to be more entertaining. So, some journalists and editors try hard to make the news more like the entertainment. A time of infortainment is coming. According to the Constructivism, news, as discourse, is the result of construction. Journalists’ personal views, the media’s value, the social ideology, etc. can greatly influence the final meaning of news. It is to say that news can be constructed. To soften the hard news, the media adopts some special constructing ways, which are called entertaining construction.The thesis contains 3 chapters. In the 1st chapter, I introduce the basic theories of the hard news, including its conception, functions, and the character of being constructive, which are the bases of our research. Meanwhile I introduce the appearance that news is getting more and more entertaining on television in China. The reality requests a timely research, which is the reason of the thesis.In the 2nd chapter, we can know how to construct the hard news by adjusting the quantity of hard news. At one side, the newsmakers report more soft news than hard news. At other side, they prefer to some special types of hard news, such as news about disasters. Adjusting the quantity constructs hard news macroscopically. There is a microscopically constructive way. In the 3rd chapter, I focus on the entertaining expressing ways of hard news, containing the choosing of the subject matters and signals and the special expressing way of the news superstructure.Though the whole thesis, I hope we can understand the hard news more which were entertaining constructed, so that we can go father to discuss the influence of the entertaining construction of news.
