Abstract


China has always been a ceremony, and rituals always have a high social status and political functions in ancient times. The folk music had a great development in our long history, and caused attention at different times by the ruling class. The national musical instrument is the vector of national music and the best interpreter. So the improvement of national musical instruments should not be neglected, and it needs to continue to be researched and expanded. Our ancestors have done their best to make the national music instruments national characteristics, and at the same time, they absorbed the essence of western music. Along the Along with the social progress and the developments of musical, art, technology and area of thinking, the reform of national musical instrument has made considerable achievements, especially in the 20th century. The technologies’development and the expanding of human thought and vision promote a great development of the music instruments. Arts Development endless, endless improvement of musical instruments! This paper attempts to collate, analyze and dredge the music instruments’development, based on the development of musical theory and the practical significance. The first is the motivation of Chinese folk instruments development during 20th century, which includes the trends of Chinese folk music, the improvement needs and the theoretical basis. The second is the outcome of folk instruments improvement in the 20th century, including the three periods:the early 20th century (1912-1949), mid 20th century (1949-1976) and the late 20th century (1976-1999). The third is to sum up the academic significance of the Chinese national musical instruments improvement.
