Abstract


Wireless local area network (WLAN) has its inherent advantages such as mobility, flexibility, expansibility and so on. The WLANs have been seen more and more applications with the decreasing construction Cost and promoting date rate.Its typical application in education is WLANs in campuse.The existing LAN can’t satisfy the students’requirements of network any more with the developments of laiwu vocational and technical college and the increasing students in recent years, so our college aims to change the actuality with construction of WLAN.Frist,this thesis described the developments of WLAN and its application in the field of education.It point out the significance of the wireless campus networking.and we introduces the construction of this paper.Most of WLAN base on the IEEE 802.11a/b/g.We learned their physical layers,including the working frequency,modulation,date rate.Then,we did some research on the MAC layer, especially the CSMA/CA mechanism.We described the Components of the IEEE 802.11 architecture,explained the common definition in 802.11 architecture introduced the services of the 802.11.It’s obvious that the security is the weakness of WLAN.We described the problem that the WLAN has to face to,and we introduced the common methods of authentication and encryption.In the end we introduced the design principle of the WLAN, analysed the need and objective of our college’s network construction based on WLAN construction of the Laiwu vocational and technical college.We chosen IEEE 802.11g as our technical standard.We determined where to site the AP,according to the field measurement. The popular design scheme of thin AP and wireless switch to implement the WLAN at present are employed to construct WLAN of our college.We designed a set of solution for the WLAN,and the way of authentication and accounting.We put forward some reasonable proposal on the network management.
