Abstract


When workflow management system is applied into the enterpriseinformation system, we need integrate the legacy and new application. This isvery important for the enterprise information system. So the workflowresearch area pay more attention to the method of application-integration.The paper carries out a deep research on application-integration methodof the contemporary workflow management system. A general framework(Workflow Application Integration Framework) is proposed. The frameworkintegrates EJB and local Java application with reflection technology.Furthermore it integrates Web Services with WSIF technology and integratesEmail application with Java Mail technology.WAIF includes three main components— application definition,application allocation and application execution. The function of eachcomponent is described and the invocation relationship between each is given.The class graph design inside each component is addressed. After theperformance and convenience is taken into account, the above all work isimplemented and the components developed are integrated with the workflowengine. WAIF is successfully applied to the Tsinghua University MSE PaperTopic Selection workflow management system. It proves that the frameworkWAIF can be fit for the practical requirement.
