Abstract


The issue of efficiency is one of the core problems which economics deals with, It is directly related to the rational allocation of scarce resources which is the reflection of the main input-output capacity of the economy,market competitiveness and the sustainable development of the important target. So-called insurance companies effective means when insurance companies is in the implementation of risk transfer, financial compensation, such as the functions of Loss Prevention,they are able to achieve the efficient allocation of resources and maximize resources to promote social mobility. With the increasing depth of the opening to the outside world, foreign property insurance companies continue to enter the Chinese market. Foreign companies are better than Chinese-funded property insurance companies whether in the use of funds, risk management, or insurance type design. It goes without saying, this is no doubt brought a huge challenge to the Chinese-funded property insurance companies. Therefore, the study of property insurance companies efficiency, especially Chinese-funded property insurance companies operating efficiency,and identify the main factors that affect efficiency and conduct an in-depth research,are of great significance no matter of the relevant institutions or academic community.At the basis of comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry efficiency study progress and the insurance industry efficiency theories and methods of assessment,The article analyzes the Chinese property insurance companies’technical efficiency,pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency by DEA method through data of 18 typical property insurance companies from 2000 to 2007.And by using super-efficiency model the super efficiency are analyzed, Then the factors of influencing the efficiency of based on this property insurance companies are discussed through the co-relation analysis method, the result indicate that technical efficiency of the property insurance companies is generally low due to the low management ability.Co-relation analysis indicates that the profit ability and risk management ability have the largest positive effects on the efficiency of the property insurance companies in China,the cost level has remarkable negative effects on it, while the level of human resources and the running time have no effects on it。Finally, on the basis of empirical research, the article analyzes the main problem of property insurance industry and give insurance companies the main way to enhance the efficiency which want to help enhance the efficiency of property insurance industry.
