Abstract

With the rapid development of Finite Element Analysis Method, numericalsimulations on computers are widely used in the field of penetration against concretetargets as an effective approach. On the base of many references, the paper makesnumerical simulations about penetrating to concrete using ANSYS/LS-DYNA,which is a well-developed finite element analysis application. The main work of thispaper can be summarized as follows:1. The paper makes a general introduction about the penetration against concretetargets in the past and at present, and this paper also lays a foundation for thefollowing work.2. The numerical simulations of the penetration against concrete targets areperformed with the parameter of the target thickness, the concrete strength, thenose shape and the velocity of the projectiles, the relationship among the effectsof the parameters is analyzed.3. This paper makes a survey of many empirical formulas, and numericalsimulations are performed in the range of typical formulas with the constitutivemodel H-J-C. The results of the simulations are almost the same as those of theformulas, so the simulations validated the results of the empirical formula. Themethod of simulating is proved to be useful as a reference.4. The effect of deck number on the protection ability is presented by thesimulation between single deck concrete target and triple deck one. Theprotection ability of triple deck target is better than that of the single deck target, and increasing the number of deck is helpful to improve the protection ability ofprotection works. At the end of the paper, a summarization is presented, and the further researchesneed to do are listed.
