Abstract


Nephroblastoma (Wilms tumor) is one of the most common abdominal malignant solid tumor in childhood, which is derived from metanephric blastema. The tumor usually generated in the first seven years of childhood, especially from 1 to 3 years, rare in adult. It often generated with congenital malformation, such as aniridia, hemihypertrophy, Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, urogenital malformation. Its main prognosis factors are the histological structure, age and metastasis. There is no specific tumor diagnostic and prognostic marker been found in nephroblastoma now. Transforming growth factor a(TGF-a), a mitogenic peptide that is structurally and functionally related to EGF, can also bind to EGFR and subsequently activate the tyrosine kinase existing in EGFR internal domain, and at last, promote DNA synthesis and the proliferation of tumor cells. Ki-67 is a sort of protein that associated with cell proliferation. The Ki-67 protein is present during all active phases of the cell cycle (G1, S, G2, and M phase), but is absent from resting cells (G0 phase), which makes it become one of the most widely used marker that associated the proliferation of cells. In order to investigate the roll of TGF-a, EGFR, Ki-67 in the generation and development of nephroblastoma, an immunohistochemical method was used to examine the expression of the three kinds of proteins.Materials and methods:
