Abstract


The problem of the Taoism(how to grasp Tao) is a core philosophic in Chinese history of philosophy. And it’s also the core and key of Zhuang Zi’s Tao theory. But for the problem of how to grasp Tao, there are two kinds of main viewpoints which are generally accepted in academic circles. Someone regards“Tao”itself as the method to grasp itself. Someone regards“silence”as the way to grasp the occult“Tao”. But both of the two kind of main viewpoints deserve to be discussed. This article commences from the realistic possibility of the method, and analyzes the two kinds of generally accepted methods. The conclusion is that both of them are not the core and key to grasp“Tao”in Zhuang Zi’s philosophy. This article maintains that the core and key to grasp“Tao”is to look up to the sky and perceive the position of human in the universe.From analyzing the meaning of the concepts of“Tao”and“Tian”in Zhuang Zi’s philosophy, this article concludes that“Tao”and“Tian”resemble each other in nature. And we can regard“Tian”as universe. So in Zhuang Zi’s philosophy, the way to grasp“Tao”is to look up to the sky and perceive the limitless universe as the wholeone and perceive the position of human in the universe. We can draw the conclusion that Zhuang Zi’s Taoism aims to treat problems from the cosmic viewpoint. The core and theme of Zhuang Zi’s Taoism is to consider position of human in the universe. Most of the basic thoughts of Zhuang Zi’s philosophy can be explained from the conclusion, such as relativism, forgetting oneself, obeying the nature, abolishing“right”and“wrong”,“being of good comfort in the situation of nature and life”etc. .Zhuang Zi’s perception of the universe is based on the sense impressions which contains rational cognitions. The perception of universe have innate influence upon human’s spirit, and the influence can be explained from psychology. It has two prime contents. The first one is the sense impressions of the vast universe, and the other one is the rational cognitions. The manifestation in Zhuang Zi’s philosophy of the sense impressions is the macrosonic mode of thinking , and the one of the rational cognitions is the circle movement of the universe. The conclusion of macrosonic thought is the relativism which maintains abolishing“right”and“wrong”, and the conclusion of circle movement can be called“life comforting”philosophy which maintains“being of good comfort in the situation of nature and life.”
