Abstract

For the blast furnace smelting vanadium-titanium magnetite, reduction of the titanium smelting process generates carbon and nitrogen compounds dispersed in the slag, coated onto the graphite furnace hearth(Ti (C, N) bonding layer),viscosity of the surrounding was increase, the slag thicken, the liquidity of slag changed poor, induced accumulation of hearth, caused difficulties in smelting. We did a great deal of research and production practice about the elimination of the bond on the hearth.According to the the idea of smelting general burning mine to eliminate bonding layer of Ti(C,N),we did the laboratory simulation experiments. Experiment is divided into two phases, First, at high temperatures using high-titanium slag and graphite crucible wall reaction produce the bonding layer of Ti (C, N),and investigated the influence of reaction time on Ti (C, N) formation. Second, using the general blast furnace slag to eliminate the Ti (C, N) bonding layer, and investigated the influence of reaction time, reaction temperature, slag basicity and the addition of celeium fluoride on the elimination of the Ti (C, N) bonding layer. The following conclusions:(1) In the experiments of generated Ti (C, N) bonding layer, along with the extending of time, the product volume of Ti (C, N) increase, however the degree of dispersion of Ti(C,N) decrease, and Ti (C, N) bonding layer near slag-graphite layer. The results showed that, when maintain a constant temperature for 120min, the metallographic photos can be seen in the boundary layers appear at the ribbon of Ti (C, N) particles, it suit relatively as the generated experimental parameters of Ti (C, N) bonding layer.(2) In the experiments of eliminated Ti (C, N) bonding layer, with the the time increases, Ti (C, N) particle also gradually dispersed to distant area, the volume of Ti (C, N) decreased gradually. After reaction 90min, the metallographic photos can be seen the boundary layer has no Ti (C, N). (3) With the increase of general slag basicity, the dispersed distribution of Ti (C, N) particles did not show regular changes, Ti (C, N) content decreased and the extent is lesser. The results of experiment showed that at certain temperature and reaction time, the changes of slag basicity has little effect on the elimination of thick.(4) With the increase of reaction temperature, the content of Ti (C, N) decreased gradually. Ti (C, N) granules distribution area is becoming smaller, the distribution uniformity is also improving. Test results showed that increasing reaction temperature had an impact on the elimination of Ti (C, N) bonding layer.(5) When the addition of CaF2 to 2%, the content of Ti (C, N) will decrease obviously. The Ti (C, N) particles is very tiny, the evenness is also very high. The content of Ti (C, N) is decreased 69.08% than no adding CaF2.
