The Relationship between Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients Infected with Tubercle Bacillus

Abstract


Objective: To investigate matrix metalloproteinase- 9 ( matrix metalloproteinase - 9 , MMP -9 ) and type 2 diabetic patients with Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection relationship . Subjects and Methods: June 2004 to August confirmed 154 cases of complications in patients with type 2 diabetes for the study, collected aseptically their serum , using semi-quantitative gelatin zymography (Zymography) and Western-blot detection all serum level of expression of MMP-9 , their expression levels of MMP-9 low expression group and high expression group , using epidemiological prospective queued research methods to track follow - up of 5 years , were compared between the two groups of patients infected with the TB bacillus and chronic of complications , calculation of relative risk. In addition, 76 cases combined Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in patients with type 2 diabetes , and 89 cases of complications in patients with type 2 diabetes serum collected from January 2008 to October using the above method to detect the expression of MMP-9 level , and compare . Results: the parade research findings show five years lost to MMP - 9 low expression group lost to two people , MMP-9 high expression group lost 4 people . MMP-9 low expression group infected with TB bacilli in five years 11 5 years, the infection rate was 13.9 % ( 11/ 79 ) , the expression of MMP -9 group infected with TB bacilli 23 , five years, the infection rate was 33.3% ( 23 / ??69 ) , the relative risk of 2.4 . Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection rate of the two groups having a significant difference ( P LT ; 0.05 ) . Meanwhile , high expression of MMP -9 in heart and cerebrovascular diseases, kidney disease , the incidence of complications was significantly higher than that of MMP- 9 low expression group ( P lt; 0.05 ) . MMP-9 in the combined Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in patients with type 2 diabetes and no complications in patients with type 2 diabetes are expressed , and the former is the expression of MMP-9 levels were significantly higher ( P lt; 0.05 ) . Conclusion : there is a different level of expression of MMP-9 in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes ; 2 , MMP -9 high expression of type 2 diabetes patients are more prone to infection with TB and chronic complications .
