Abstract


Zhang, tianyi is an important writer of.the Chinese modern literature history. He promoted "Zuo Yi" literature by his rich achievements of writing and unique method of writing. The satire novels are his most outstanding achievement. He made a great contribution to preliminary mature of Chinese modem satirizing novel and promoted the further development of revolutionary realistic literature through exposing the corruption and darkness of the society and analyzing the inherent weakness of the people and displaying the ture picture of society with his poignant writing. Academia began to research Zhang Tianyi just after Zhang Tianyi began to write and had obtained some achievements. Furthermore, it made a great breakthrough since the eighties of the 20th century. However, although the satire novels, Zhang Tianyi’s main writing achievement had been attached much importance and been discussed, it need to be all-sidedly and systematically researched by Jhe point of view of satirizing literature. The value of Zhang Tianyi’s satire novels is also need to be evaluated objectively and reasonably. The thesis attempts to solve the problem above mentioned, and all-sidedly researchs hi a meticulous way.Section one analyzes the satirizing object of Zhang Tianyi’s satire novel and explains how his satirizing ideal is composed. Zhang Tianyi’s satire novel is composed of satirizing morality, satirizing character, satirizing custom, satirizing culture, satirizing current events, etc. The objects of his satire novel are the dark society on one hand, and the inherent weakness of the people on the other hand. He is aimed at society reality of the thirties of the 20th century and exposed the darkness and corruption of ceremony and propriety, political and culture. On the other hand, he carries forward the good tradition of Lu Xu and develop it a further step and make it more perfect, criticize the deep-rooted bad habits and the inherent weakness. Zhang Tianyi satirizes the hideous phenomenon but his real purpose is to describe the ideal humanity and the bright society, to express his wish and ideal, which Zhang Tianyi hopes can help people "distinguish what is truth, what is lie and what should be loved, what should be hated." This is embodied in the characters of his satire novel, such as sister-in-low Fa Xin, sister-in-low Ren San and Xiao Yin’er, etc.Section two analyzes the satire art of Zhang Tianyi’s satire novel. The pivotal thing for a satire writer’s artistic life is the satiric artifice. Zhang Tianyi developed his artifice and made a great amount of innovation at the basis of succeeding to the former writer’s. His satiric artifice is embodied in exaggeration, contrast, farcicality and jocularity. He focus characters’ hideous features through exaggeration, reveal characters’ ugly souls through contrast, drolly and breezily expose characters’ true features through farcicality and jocularity, make reader realize with his irony. At the basis of synthetically using those artifice Zhang Tianyi formed his unique style.Section three expatiates on the unique style of Zhang tianyi’s satire novels and probe into how the style was formed. As a mature satirist, the unique style of Zhang tianyi’s satire novels is vivid, poignant, facetious and acrid. The thesis concretely discusses this question from two aspects,’ content and form, which refer to the subject he choose, the theme he expressed and the character he depicted, and analyze the structure and the tongue of his works and the method his used to depict character. Zhang Tianyi inclined to reveal the character’s inherent ugliness and the essential darkness of society by economical structure and concise, serious and humourous tongue. The thesis analyze the factors that formed this style and think the main objective factor is the atmosphere of that times and the main subjective is his personal experiences, aesthetic aspiration and the influence of Chinese literature and western literature he accepted.
