Abstract

As a class of novel porous materials, ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) possesses more remarkable properties, such as a narrow pore distribution, high specific surface area, chemical inertness, and good hydrothermal and mechanical stability. It has been attracting considerable attention because of potential applications in gas separation, catalyst supports, and energy storage/conversion.In this thesis, novel synthetic strategies of OMC and OMC/Ninanocomposites were developed. OMC with cubic Im3m symmetry hassuccessfully been synthesized via a direct carbonization of self-assembledF108 (EO132 PO50 EO132 ) and resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF) compositesobtained in basic media of nonaqueous solution by evaporation inducedself-assembly method. Triblock copolymer F108 was used as a templateagent and RF sol as a carbon precursor. The materials obtained weredeeply characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electronmicroscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), nitrogenadsorption/desorption, etc. The formation mechanism and some syntheticparameters of OMC were investigated. It is pointed out that the three-connected networks generated from RF sol play great role for the preservation the ordered structure of OMC and must be controlled preciously. The resulting ordered mesoporous carbon obtained at 700℃has a BET surface area of 564 m2/g, a pore volume of 0.25 cm3/g, and a narrow pore size distribution centered at 4.9 nm.OMC/Ni nanocomposites were directly synthesized through multi-component co-assembly method, herein triblock copolymer F127 (EO106 PO70 EO106 ) was used as a template agent, RF sol as a carbon precursor and Ni(NO3) 2·6H2O as a metal source. The metal nanoparticles with the diameter of 26 nm are uniformly distributed throughout the carbon matrix. The nanocomposites exhibit the soft ferromagnetic characteristics with the saturation magnetization in the range of 1.4~1.9emu/g and coercivity force of 120~125 Oe, respectively. Meanwhile, the ratio between the remanent and saturation magnetizations (Mr/Ms=0.20~0.25) is relatively low, indicating the composites could be easily manipulated by an external magnetic field.
