Abstract


Qin music is one of the most important domains of Chinese guqin music, as wellas an important part of music of the Ming Dynasty. Factions, players, tunes, andbooks of qin music linked together toughly and developed balanced, and thatfacilitated the development of the qin music of the Ming dynasty. The literaturematerials available of the study on qin in the Ming Dynasty recorded objectivelythe basic appearance and the main achievements of the guqin music during more than300 years in the Ming Dynasty.During the initial period of the Ming Dynasty, guqin restored its new vigorwith the formation and development of Zhengjiang Faction and the printing of thebooks of the qin music and that showed the comprehensive prosperity of the qinmusic in the Ming Dynasty had already come. But during the mid and late periodsof the Ming Dynasty, the emerging Yushan Faction developed gradually and took theplace of Zhengjiang Faction as the main leader of qin music in the end. AfterChinese first book of qin music being published, the printing of the books of theqin music in the Ming Dynasty made a greatresult in quantity as well as in quality.And the learners of qin music became more and more, thus there appeared manytalented players. The works’ creation in the Ming Dynasty also presented a pieceof exeellent scene, and its works were far more than that of the previous dynasty.The guqin music of the Ming Dynasty not only preserved and inherited that ofChina but also influenced the development of the study on guqin in the Ming Dynastyand the later generations. Meanwhile, the qin music of the Ming Dynasty laid adeep mark in the development of the qin music in Japan and the other countries.And the rise of Japan’s qin music depended on the development of the qin musicin the Ming Dynasty.This article carries on the preliminary combing and research on the qin musicof the Ming Dynasty in order to clearly and orderly unfold the historical generalpicture of the development of the Ming Dynasty’s qin music as well as to makeits status and value clear in Chinese guqin music and the history of Chinese music.
