Abstract


The economic growth is the precondition and basic of the development and theprogress for a country or a region. Domestic and international numerous economists arewild about the inherent principle and the tending of the economic growth in thelong-range. Based on the Economic Growth Theory, the Regional Convergence on theeconomic growth is a conjecture which can forecast the tending of a regional economicgrowth in the long-range.By researching the convergence of Fujian Province, this paper tried to prove theσ-Convergence during 1978-2004AD but it was disconfirmed while confirmed in theyears of 1995-2004. Secondary, we examined the unconditionalβ-Convergence in theprovince and didn’t confirm it, either. After the argumentation about the variable ofPosition, we came to a conclusion that there are convergences both in the littoral andmountainous area. And then, we studied the conditionalβ-Convergence in the terms of thehuman capital citing the panel data. Finally, it shew that human capital is an importantfactor to influence the convergence of the economic growth in the Fujian province,especially to the mountainous area. So we should reinforce the investment of the humancapital to make the regional economic growth come to an unconditional convergence.
